The Maine Coon cat is a highly affectionate, intelligent cat.
They have the quite delightful idiosyncrasy of head butting their owners for affection. They like to be sat on your lap so that they can gently butt your chin with their head. When welcoming you they will often raise themselves on their hind legs to get closer to your face.
If you have a cosy image of sitting in front of a roaring fire, on a cold night, curled up with a good book and an affectionate, companionable cat lying next to you then the Maine Coon is the cat for you.
